Mr Daverio took office in 2013 as Director General in the Lombardy Region consecutively at the Department for Family and Social Affairs; the Department for income management and social inclusion; and the Welfare Department. In 2018, Mr Daverio was appointed Director General for Social Policies, Housing and Disability Department of the Lombardy Region.
Mr Giovanni Daverio holds a degree in philosophy from the University of Milan and started his career as technical coordinator for the asylum service of the Municipality of Varese. He worked for 4 years from 2002-2006 for the Ministry of labour and Social Policies before becoming the Director of the Family Policy Department for the Municipality of Milan until 2010 and Director of the Labour and Welfare Department until 2011. Mr Daverio became Director of the Local Health Agency of the Varese Province in 2012.
